1 - Body-Mind Well-Being to beat Stress

"For how we experience life is always a reflection of our energy levels: When we say we are feeling 'low" (or 'high') we are talking about how much vitality we have, and how strongly and how harmoniously the life force is flowing through us."

But whether one has a high level or low level of energy at any particular time, harmonising it is, I feel, a KEY factor to beat stress.

Balance is the word, that's what it's about: balance, harmony.

In the first instance, how we experience life is a function of our energy level, but there is more to it than that...

Not:

Low/Bad

High/Good!

No, people vary:

Some are more physically active than others.

Some exercise, some don't like it, they put their energy into other things.




We are looking at WELL-BEING - emotional well-being, physical well-being, mental well-being - everyone is looking for well-being! (Barry Long, Australian spiritual teacher, points out that it's already there, a fundamental of our very life).

But there are ways to nurture and maintain it to create an optimum level of body-mind well-being, vitality and harmony.

Body-mind well-being means harmony of body and mind, functioning together as a whole organism, at a good and pleasurable level. Body-mind well-being tends to generate beneficial feel-good chemicals in the system eg dopamine, serotonin and DHEA.

Which brings us to Glyn Seaborn Jones, a psychoanalyst and brilliant psychotherapist, one of the pioneers of the 'Growth Movement' in the UK in the 70's and 80's, who always said, the fundamental thing is body-mind well-being, it is the first thing one is looking for.
