Energy Healing Therapy, Chi Kung Exercises

Energy Healing Therapy, as in Chi Kung Exercises (or qigong exercise steps), is the Chinese art of cultivating our Vital Energy, using breathing, stretching exercises and mind focus to maintain and restore health, good circulation and peace of mind.
There are thousands of known variations of the art of Chi Kung breathing exercises:
Some lying down, some sitting, some standing; some still, some with movements.
Different schools, such as Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian, each have their own methods to serve their particular purpose.
At the basis of all of them is
'Deep Abdominal Breathing.
It is deep breathing using the full extent of your lung capacity and it is called abdominal because the movement of your diaphragm will expand your lower abdomen during the inhale and contract your lower abdomen during the exhale.
All forms of the exercise of Energy Healing Therapy centre around the idea that the body has an energy field nurtured by its natural respiration.
This subtle, Vital Energy is commonly called Qi (or Chi) in Chinese health and meditative communities.
Gong (or Kung) means work or technique, which describes the ways by which the body poses and stretches in attempts to build energy and maintain health through the breathing patterns.
In western cultures, the methods employed by Energy Healing Therapy students are used primarily for meditation and stress management techniques.
The Chinese call tension or distress in the body 'sick chi'. And in my studies of Chi Kung Exercises for health, we developed some of our energy resources before we started with exercises to get rid of this 'sick chi'.
So here is an exercise 'Fillling with Chi'' for you to do likewise as a form of natural stress relief:
'Filling with Chi'
Standing, with spine straight and feet shoulders-width apart, knees slightly bent, release any tension you are holding in your legs, the hands are by the side of the hips, elbows 'open'.1 - While breathing in, slowly stretch both arms outward and upward simultaneously sideways. 2 - While breathing out, slightly bend the upper body forward, bend the knees and lower both arms to the sides of the knees in a 'scooping' movement.
3 - Slowly raise both hands, imagining that they are carrying 'Chi' (vital energy).4 - While breathing in, straighten the body and continue to raise both hands to the front of the forehead. 5 - Turn the hands, so that the palms are facing down. 6 - While breathing out slowly, lower both hands down in front of the middle line of your body, imagining you are filling your body with the 'Chi'. 7 - Let the hands return to their starting position, at the side of the hips.
Benefits
- Reinforces vital energy- Improves the lungs' capacity - Improves the metabolism - Can cure chronic bronchitis, T.B. and other chronic problems, if practised regularly.
If we lack Vital Energy we invite stress in whatever form it chooses to take e.g.depression, anxiety, and if these states go on for too long we risk becoming seriously ill.
As well as with Energy Healing Therapy, we can develop our
Vital Energy to beat stress
by practising
Tai Chi Movements
and
Chinese Healthy Exercise.
Many such exercises come from the tradition of Tao.The Taoists equate physical and mental health and insist that only a healthy body can house a healthy spirit. Which is why Tao focuses on Health and Longevity.
