Also, the functions of the organs are slowed down and the stress caused by the endocrine and nervous system disturbances is then eliminated.
The Breathing Exercises for Stress Relief below use deep abdominal breathing and visualisation to multiply the relief of accumulated tension in the body. As one can visualise just about any stressful situation and its positive outcome in order to rid oneself of the miasmas (ingrained and recurring patterns left in the body by the negative effects of stress, bad habits, trauma etc).
This
Chinese Healthy Exercise
- also a Breathing Exercise for Stress Relief (wonderful how most exercises connect on this site!) - is about co-ordinating the turning of the waist wwith the pushing of the palm: moving the chi (vital energy) and generating energy, as well as getting rid of 'sick chi' (stress pollution) with the breath.
Thus we come to know again that breathing exercises reduce stress.
I really like this one!
Turn Waist, Push Palm
Basic Stance:Standing, feet parallel, shoulder-width apart, knees well bent and pelvis 'rolled under', with spine and neck straight throughout the exercise.
Slightly bend your elbows, change both hands into half fists and place them on each side of the waist, centre of fist facing up.
Take a slow, fine, deep in-breath through the nose.
Slowly turn your waist 45 degrees towards the left while lifting your right arm and with a slow, fine deep out-breath through your half-opened mouth, into a palm and push with inner force in the left/front direction.
At the end of this movement change the palm into a half fist, fist facing up and
Take a slow, fine deep in-breath through the nose.
Bend the right arm and bring back the right hand to the right side of the waist.
Repeat the movement, this time turning the waist towards the right and pushing with the left palm. Both movements count as one.
Do this form at least 6 times.
Another dimension to this exercise is the visualisation:
Visualise you are letting all your inner STRESS leave the body with the out-breath ie the stress 'rides the breath' on its way out.
Visualise you are absorbing new, fresh vital energy with the in-breath.
This movement is a VERY good Breathing Exercise for Stress Relief.
Do take the time to practise - actually it hardly takes any time!
